Fundraising for
2013 season

In 2009, in response to the recession, the Institute made significant budget cuts in athletics. The ski team lost varsity status, meaning a drastic reduction in funding from MIT. The team now relies heavily on alumni donations and athlete funding, which have kept the team alive for the past three seasons.

For the upcoming 2012-2013 season, the team successfully cut its operating budget by 30% and set an ambitious fundraising goal to cover season costs and begin saving for future capital expenses and long-term sustainability (race gear, uniforms, endowment). Each year, athletes pay around $400 for their season pass, food, and lodging and they would appreciate your help in closing the funding gap.
